Residents Claim To Have Seen Low-flying Aircraft In Maldives
Some residents of Kudahuvadhoo Island in the Maldives have claimed to have seen a large low-flying aircraft, around 6.15am (Maldives time: GMT+5hrs). Any international flight passing over that island would be highly unusual and domestic transport uses small aircrafts. Police has now started an investigation. See the
Map of Maldives Islands and understand the
Maldives visa process if you are planning a holiday.
There 3 international airports in the Maldives, the main one is Male' International Airport (also called as Ibrahim Nasir International Airport). Others in Gan, Addu Atoll, and Hanimaadhoo Island in Haa Alif Atoll. These two airports are on two tips of the country. Out of 1200 islands in Maldives, 200 are residential islands, about 150 leased for resorts and more than 800 islands are uninhabited. For resort transfers Maldives use seaplanes. In fact Maldives is home to world's largest seaplane operation.
