The resort is located on an island that’s 1200 meters long and 320 meters wide named “Meerufenfushi”. A beautiful, turquoise lagoon and long stretches of white, sandy beach surround Meeru Island Resort & Spa. Much of this stunning Maldives Island Resort remains untouched with its fringing coconut palm trees, abundant vegetation and colorful coral reefs teeming with marine life. Villas

The choices available for accommodation can be a bit overwhelming. From 77 Jacuzzi water villas, 27 waterfront villas, 83 jacuzzi villas and 20 Garden Rooms, you can choose any type of rooms each coming with its own unique experience and feel. All rooms are decked out with quality amenities for your comfort and convenience.


For the traveler who are at a loss to decide what type of room to opt for, there are just a few things to consider. These include whether your travelling with family, the size of room you want and most importantly, the scenery and view you are looking for. For guests travelling with family, Beach Villas and Garden Rooms accommodate guests of all ages. The villas are spacious, adorned with tropical décor and come with a day bed with a gorgeous view of the lagoon. The Garden Rooms are located in a “U” shaped block of 20 rooms near the Dhoni Bar pool, newly renovated accommodation in Maldives, with an indoor bathroom (not a partial open-air), a wooden sun deck, a privacy screen between the Rooms, and a shaded area beneath the coconut palms with a view of the tropical gardens.


Adult travelers have the option of choosing Jacuzzi Beach Villas, Water Front Villas or Jacuzzi Water Villas which are all located in the Adults-Only area. Situated on the beach, Jacuzzi Beach Villas and Water Front Villas offer privacy and scenic views of a tiny piece of tropical heaven. In addition to that they also come with a private, walled-in outdoor area that features a Jacuzzi for two “under the stars”. Sip champagne while soaking the jacuzzi taking in the glorious starry sky. Jacuzzi Water Villas are secluded overwater bungalows on stilts. Luxurious, lavish and beautiful, they have a private sundeck with stairs into the sea, providing direct access to the ocean from the comfort of your villa. Inside, the bedroom is larger, and the room is fitted with all the amenities you need to have a perfect holiday.

Food and Beverage Choices

Once again, Meeru Island loves to bombard the average traveler with an abundancy of options even when it comes to your dinner, boasting 2 buffet restaurants, 2 unique A La Carte restaurants with the option of fine dining at the beach. The cuisines available at this restaurant is of course international, with a delicious selection of dishes from all around the world. From the al fresco dining in tropical paradise and various buffet themes to the unique Hot Rock and Teppanyaki experiences, Meeru has something for everyone!

Buffet Restaurants

Both buffet restaurants have the same menu and diverse international and regional cuisines to please everyone’s taste. Enjoy all-you-can-eat buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner including lively Theme Nights. Friday night dinner is Maldivian night with a themed menu and waiters in traditional dress. Sunday breakfast welcomes you with complimentary Sparkling Wine. Moreover, the soups, breads and desserts are homemade and the fresh, tropical fruits are delicious. The buffet lines also include live action, cooking stations. Watch our chefs prepare your food to your order. A La Carte Restaurants

Choose from the best “optional” a la carte Restaurants in the Maldives, including over-the-water Asian Wok Restaurant specializing in Asian cuisine and Teppanyaki; the Hot Rock Restaurant & Bar near the Pavilion Bar Pool, featuring seafood, steak, chicken or exotic game cooked at your table on volcanic “hot rocks”. Meeru also offers 4 “optional” a’ la carte choices: a Snack Menu at the Bars and Pools; the Meeru Café at the Dhoni Bar Pool featuring ice cream, pastries, specialty coffees, teas and Panini sandwiches; Room Service; and Romantic Dinners served on the beach.

Bars

The resort features six stylish bars each with their own atmosphere and setting. The diversity in the experiences you could opt to have due to this is quite unbelievable. Dhoni Bar & Kakuni Bar feature scenic views on to the jetty and on to Meeru’s yachts. Ideal for sunset viewing.

The Dhoni

This the most popular meeting place on the island. A 24 hour bar located at the Dhoni Bar Pool at the water’s edge. With a Fresh Water Swimming Pool, the Dhoni Bar features infinite views of the tranquil ocean. Near the Dhoni Bar Pool is the Children’s Wading Pool, no more than 0.5 meters in depth for kids to enjoy on their holiday at Meeru.

The Kakuni Bar

Located on the beach opposite the main reception, the bar includes a Sports Bar with table tennis, billiards, football, darts, chess, board games and satellite TV coverage of international sporting events and a disco. There is also outdoor seating on a wooden deck.

 

Uthuru Bar

The adults-only Uthuru Bar is situated on the beach near the Northern most tip of Meeru, situated so that you can witness the most beautiful sunset view while enjoying your drinks. The Bar features comfortable seating on the beach, on the wooden deck or inside. Chill-out to smooth Jazz music at sunset during the Jazz Nights with a refreshing beverage of your choice. Enjoy the scenery and just… relax.

The Pavilion Bar

The Pavilion Bar is located at Eastern beach by the Jacuzzi Water Villa jetty. It is a cozy, little Bar in midst tall coconut palm trees. Enjoy a beverage of your choice with stunning views of the unspoiled, natural vegetation and tropical atmosphere at Meeru. Moreover, this bar comes with The Pavilion Pool so you can bask in the pool while sipping your favorite drink to mesmerizing scenery.

 

The Asian Wok Bar

Located inside the over-the-water Asian Wok Restaurant & Bar, the main feature is the unobstructed view of the sunset.The Bar features stunning architecture with a high ceiling and smooth wood finishing. There is comfortable seating with clear looking-glass blocks at your feet. To make the most of your sundowner, there is seating right at the edge above the lagoon with a clear view of the Indian Ocean.

Duniye Spa

The word Duniye translates to “The world” or “The Universe” and as such this Spa featured at Meeru Maldives takes a holistic approach to health and well-being. Their spa services are inspired by traditional and modern therapies from around the globe with an emphasis on regional healing traditions from Asia & Africa. The professional and highly trained team utilizes both low-tech and high-tech methodology with carefully selected premium natural products are the foundation of this service.

 

Activities and Entertainment

Snorkeling

Meeru Island Resort & Spa Maldives Snorkeling Trail is located at the northern tip of the island. Meeru designed and offers the perfect setting for snorkeling in the Maldives, letting you swim with colorful tropical fish just a few steps from the beach. Easily seen floating buoys mark the trail which you follow from the beach to the snorkeling site and back to the beach. An Island Map is conveniently located near the North Reception and at other places around the Island.

Scuba Diving

Bask in the beauty of the aquatic world that resides in the Indian Ocean. Managed by the Euro-Dive Team, Meeru Maldives offers a variety of courses from novice to expert, which by the end you will be able to glide through the deep blue waters of the ocean. Meeru is surrounded by a big, beautiful lagoon that’s mesmerizing to say the least. There is no nearby house reef, so all dives are boat dives. The lagoon is home to a great variety of marine life with interesting coral formations and colorful fish life in shallow water. It is perfect for snorkelers and for diver training. The average water temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. and the visibility from January to May is about 20m to 50m and from June to December is 15m to 25m.

The Manta Trust Marine Biology Center

The Manta Trust is a well known, UK based, independent non-profit organization, whose mission is to advance conservation of manta rays and their habitat through science, research, raising awareness, and creating influence by providing education. Guests can take part in workshops and trips run by Meeru’s resident Marine Biologist.

Watersports

A vacation to tropical paradise would not be complete without indulging in water sports. Meeru Maldives goes above and beyond to deliver the perfect experience. In addition to Snorkeling and Diving, there are a variety of other water sports for Meeru guests to enjoy. Some include windsurfing, catamaran, kayaking and glass bottom boat, (motorized sports). Equipment can be rented and lessons can be booked at the Water Sports Center.

The Meeru Museum

Meeru Maldives proudly showcases its own museum that sets it apart from other resorts which was opened on October 3 in 2014. The museum is built in the shape of a traditional Dhoni, the local word for tradition boats. The museum exhibits several artifacts from centuries ago that portray the Maldivian way of life. Particularly how the early local Maldivians cooked, dressed, traveled and schooled. Show casing items from traditional wooden box used as travel storage (lakudi foshi), to wooden Maldivian sandals worn until the early 1980s (ujjehi maravalhhi), this museum is sure to intrigue culturally curious minds.

A glimpse into ancient Maldives

The items have been collected from different islands over many years. The collection consists of everyday tools and other items used in the Maldives. Both old and new. It represents the essence of what can be defined as The Maldivian Way of Life. How do Maldivians work? Fish? Cook? Educate their children? Play and spend their leisure time? Dress up? How do they perform our artistic talents through basketry, lacquer work and other crafts? The striped pattern of early lacquer work and the woven design of the unique Maldivian sarong are examples of a “mordern”, almost minimalist style. It contrasts the intricate ornamental designs of neighboring countries.

Until recently, we lived in remote, scattered and isolated islands. For this reason, we have had to be self-sufficient. Techniques and materials reflect the limited availability of resources. In this exhibition, you will see many examples of the ingenious creative use of materials.
