Emirates Flight EK653 Makes Emergency Landing In Maldives

Emirates flight EK653 has made an emergency landing at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) in Maldives. The flight reportedly took off around 23.00hrs from INIA and was enroute to Dubai. After about 10 minutes into the flight it changed course and made emergency landing back at INIA.

There were 362 passengers on board and no casualties were reported. There was no damage to the flight that could be seen outside when the passengers got off the plane.

When the plane landed the airport was on high alert with fire vehicles and ambulances lined up ready for action.

An official at the airport told reporters the pilots were suspicious of fire in cargo area but nothing of that nature was found upon inspection. The flight was undergoing further inspection as we reported this incident.
