Maldives is a distinct nation in the Indian Ocean, consisting of 26 atolls and over 1190 islands. Each resort (there are over 100 of them) is situated on an individual private island, allowing for peace and quiet as well as easy access to the water and incredible marine life. Makunudu Island is one of the oldest and smallest resort in Maldives, spreading its rustic charm over six acres. This tiny island almost looks like it might sink under the sheer weight of lush vegetation on it. The property was open to the travellers during 1982. The resort is located on a private island in the North Male’ Atoll, part of Kaafu Atoll. You can reach Makunudu island resort just under an hour; depending on the wind and weather the speedboat ride can be choppy from Male’. The island consists with a jetty and a dock area for its fleet of speedboats and traditional dhoni boats, the latter used for scuba diving and other excursions. Once you have stepped on the island, you will be warmly welcomed by the resort staff members, where they even shake hands with the new visitors. Then the guests are ushered to the restaurant lounge for check-in, where you will be offered a fruit drink, which is so refreshing after the speed boat ride. Once you have filled the gust forms, without any delays you will be escorted to your guestrooms which you have reserved before the arrival.
