Movenpick Maldives Resort Opening 2018
26 APRIL 2017
Swiss hotel company Movenpick has signed a contract to manage its first Maldives resort. The Movenpick Resort & Spa Kuredhivaru Maldives is located in the popular luxury tourism region of Noonu Atoll. A scenic seaplane flight takes 45 minutes to ge there. Once arrived you will be ushered with cold towel and welcome drinks before being escorted to one of the 105 luxury villas.
Island that measures 550 metres in length comes with 33 Beach Villas and 72 Water Villas combined with matching culinary experiences.
While exact opening date has not been set the Movenpick Maldives resort is opening in the second quarter of 2018. Opening date is likely to be announced later this year.
“It’s no secret that the Maldives is a much sought after holiday destination that is still increasing in popularity and our spectacular resort represents a significant entry for Mövenpick into this world-renowned island hideaway,” said Chief Development Officer and Senior Vice President Asia, Andrew Langdon. “We look forward to introduce our guests of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Kuredhivaru Maldives to Mövenpick’s signature style, hospitality and service once it opens in 2018.”
World famous dive site Christmas Tree and Orimas Thila are in close proximity while the recently discovered whale shark and manta point Manadhoo Beyru takes just 20 minutes by speedboat.
Manadhoo Thila located between Manadhoo and Maafaru has an unusual crane wreck that is yet to be explored. Apparently not many know about this. Manadhoo Thila is a large deep water reef that spans all the way from Manadhoo to Maafaru and is a popular night fishing spot among the locals of this atoll. While everyone loves turtles Maafaru house reef has plenty to them, in fact locals say they see over a dozen in a single trip.
Several years back the government leased Kuredhivaru island to develop resort and project kept on going without much progress. At the time of leasing the company planned to develop world's first
underwater hotel but that plan never took off. The resort that is still under construction was noticed to have a great progress in 2016. The management agreement now being signed by the Movenpick the construction is likely to progress faster.
Movenpick operates more than 80 properties in different countries. Once opened Kuredhivaru will be the first Movenpick resort in the Maldives.
