About the restaurant, take a look at the design itself. It is basically a steel structure. Around it is a transparent acrylic dome. You will be able to view the marine life through the transparent dome. The restaurant will sit in the lagoon surrounded by countless coral species and fish.
Jumbo, the shipping Company is in charge of the installation, and they plan to install it without disrupting the surrounding environment and marine life. They are planning to minimize the impact as much as possible.
The famous Auckland architectural MJ Murphy is behind this project. They are experienced in similar underwater projects. Also, they are the ones who designed the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort underwater restaurant. But that was a small restaurant in comparison. Fitzroy Engineering is behind the actual construction. It has 74 feet length and 410 tons weight. It took more than 10 months for them to complete the construction.
How would the diners enter the restaurant? You can enter the restaurant via the hut built above the water. A spiral staircase (43 foot long) will lead you to the restaurant. Since they have only limited space inside the restaurant, there is no kitchen and the food is cooked and delivered fresh. There is a dumbwaiter to deliver food to the depth of the lagoon. This place can be used for wedding receptions as well.
The restaurant was built in New Zealand and shipped to Maldives via a cargo ship. Without any doubt, it is going to be a unique experience for the traveler.
