Maldives Baby Sharks Are Friendly. This Attack Shows They Have Teeth.
The video shows someone in a shallow lagoon trying to lure baby sharks and feeding them. Sharks have very bad vision and it mainly depends on their sense of smell for hunting. If you throw some food over the shark you would see it making quick turns trying to locate the food. If sharks it would not have to look every side. Because of the bad vision sharks cannot instantly pin pint food that is inches away.
To compliment bad vision sharks have incredible ability to sniff their food, it is said it would smell blood 3 miles away.
There are many resorts in Maldives that do shark feeding. Unlike stingray feeding the pontoon stays out of water when it is shark feeding.
The most common types of sharks in Maldives are Black Tip Reef Shark, White Tip Reef Shark, Nurse Shark and Hammer Head. None of these species directly attack human. If they bite you for any reason it would be your fault that you made them confused. If you throw some food that they love, such as fish cuts, on your feet don’t expect them to bite only the food. This is what happens in the video.
Sharks found in waters of Maldives are not aggressive. But they have sharp teeth and this animal needs to be respected while you enjoy watching them.
