Images of an eagle ray lying dead on yacht has sparked criticism in the Maldives. One of the pictures show eagle on the beach upside down while a wooden stick is poked into the mouth. Tourists visiting Maldives to experience beauty of nature must not kill but protect these creatures.

Eagle rays are one of the most attractive marine lives found in the Maldives. Sting rays are more common and Eagle Rays are quite rare.

Anyone knows if eagle ray is legally protected in Maldives. We could not find any info on Environment Protection Agency website. It seems we will have to pay a visit to them to check on this.

@michael If this goes to mass media and stirs public attention then I think the authorities will take action. The private yacht could still be in Maldives and might have killed a lot more other species. Thanks for your concern. Please SHARE.
